Schilthorn

April 10, we took the evening train from Milan to Interlaken. Beautiful scenery of old buildings and houses on the shores of lakes passed by as we stretched out in the train for a good rest. We had to change train as there was no direct train, the Golden Pass train to Interlaken West was beautiful and comfy. Arrived quite late, no more buses, had to walk all the way to Balmer's Herberge. Front desk was closed, checked in at the entrance near the bar. Balmer's is for the young - very dorm like. Those who value their night's rest be forewarned of the noise from the mob who frequent the bar. Anyway, staff were very friendly and helpful, most of all it was very affordable. The showers were a "pain in the butt" - had press taps that automatically closed every minute. Then when you press the tap on, you would get cold water for some time before the water turned hot. Brrrrr! Very icy cold.
The next morning, we planned to go up the mountains. Checked the weather condition on the webcam and found Jungfraujoch foggy - not advisable to spend huge sum of money to see fog.
We bought tickets for Schilthorn instead, CHF77.40. Had to take train, then bus (passing by Lauterbrunnen), then cable car. There was a couple from Australia who had come, with the family members, to be married at Schilthorn - how romantic!! At the top, we had lunch at the Piz Gloria revolving restaurant with fine views of the Jungfrau, Monch & Eiger mountains. As we went outside, it snowed. This was our first experience with snow - very excited. On the way down, we stopover at Murren for a little walk - pretty little town.
